Nina Dobrev takes the cover of Companymagazine’s July 2013 issue, on newsstands Wednesday (June 5)!

Here’s what the 24-year-old Vampire Diariesactress had to share with the mag:

On wanting to be a model for Burberry:“I’ve always dreamed of being a ‘BurberryGirl’, but I know it’ll never happen, because I’m not British. Still, you can’t stop a girl from dreaming. And owning way too manyBurberry coats!”

On if she wasn’t an actress: “I was a rhythmic and athletic gymnast for a little while. Then, when I quit gymnastics, I fell in love with yoga. So sometimes I think I’d like to open up a yoga studio.”

On living in Hollywood: “It’s exciting because it’s so sunny and beautiful there, but at the same time there’s something a bit distant about Los Angeles. It’s hard to make good friends. Everyone’s in their car, with their sunglasses on, and disconnected. But Hollywood is work – then Venice by the beach is play.”

The full interview appears in the July issue of Company magazine, which is also available in digital edition on Apple Newsstand, on sale June 5. Bigger cover inside…For behind the scenes and more from Nina, visit Company.co.uk

It seemed only appropriate that we ask The Vampire Diaries‘ Nina Dobrev her secret to healthy skin — and looking totally refreshed — at an early-morning event for Origins’ latest product, the GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer ($27). The brunette starlet just finished filming the fourth season of her hit CW series, and made a quick pit stop in NYC before officially embarking on her Summer adventures. Read on for what she revealed about her skin care routine, the weirdest beauty treatment she’s tried (recently), and what she can’t leave the house without.

1. On her skin care routine:
Nina spends much of her days on the Vampire Diaries set in full hair and makeup, so it makes sense that she takes her skin care routine very seriously. “Even when it looks like I’m not wearing much makeup, I totally am. So, as soon as I’m done on set — I don’t even wait until I get home — I’ll use a makeup wipe, wash my face, and then use a hot towel. I use it to let my skin breathe, let the pores open up, and then I put tons of moisturizer on.”

2. On her mom’s beauty advice:
Mother knows best, right? “My mom told me once that if you put an egg in your hair, it will make it supershiny.” In fact, Nina’s mom is onto something — our favorite DIY hair recipe masks serve as further proof.

Nina’s Summer beauty essentials, plus more, right here.

3. On how she avoids “looking tired”:
Early on-set times mean even earlier wake-up calls. Translation? Nina has learned her fair share of ways to beat the morning blues, and it starts with getting those hours in. “I’m very serious about my sleep. Moisturizing my skin, drinking water, and eating right definitely helps energize me in the morning. I also drink teas, like macha green tea.”

4. On one of the weirder beauty treatments she’s tried:
We all need a little beauty-themed pampering sometimes, even if the process doesn’t necessarily include eye masks and massages. Here’s Nina’s take: “On my trip to Mexico, I did one of those mud body wraps, after which they take you to the ocean to wash it off, then wrap you up in a towel. It’s pretty amazing and you glow afterward.”

5. On what’s in her bag:
Like many women, there are Summer beauty staples you’ll never leave the house without. We asked Nina to name three. “I always have sunscreen, waterproof mascara, and sunglasses. Dior has a great mascara and also LashBlast by CoverGirl ($9). Those are two of my favorites.”

Waking up early is never easy, but getting out of bed Friday morning was a little easier for us knowing that we’d be starting our day with Nina Dobrev.

Still, the experience was harrowing. When we arrived at the Origins store in the Flatiron District in New York City for the launch of their new GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer, we realized just how unfair the world can be: The 24-year-old “Vampire Diaries” starlet looked ready to step on the red carpet for a primetime premiere, complete with Jimmy Choo shoes and a chic and trendy midriff-revealing ensemble by Thakoon.

Needless to say, we just had to know how she did that. Unlike Katherine and Elena on her show, she was nice enough to give us a few pointers.

Don’t dilly-dally when the alarm goes off.It always helps to “wake up and start your day right away,” Dobrev told omg!. “I sleep on my stomach so all the water goes into my face and I get really puffy in the mornings. I have to wake up early and let everything drain and do its thing naturally, then moisturize and let it soak in.”

Protect yourself. ”Sunscreen’s really important. I was just away on a beachy vacation and you have to wear sunscreen. Otherwise it ages you. A lot.”

A little kick doesn’t hurt. ”Early calls are definitely caffeinated. I definitely have to have some coffee, but also matcha green tea is amazing. I’ve been really into matcha green tea lattes with almond milk and also with regular milk.”

Mental health matters too. “Just being happy. Happiness is the best thing [for looking fresh in the morning].”

In addition to wearing sunscreen and caffeine-enhanced moisturizer, Dobrev will be spending her summer hiatus shooting a film – buddy comedy ”Let’s Be Cops,” also featuring “New Girl” star Jake Johnson — and just “resting and doing yoga and reading,” she said. “I’m reading ‘Reconstructing Amelia’ right now. I’ve been reading scripts for so long, it’s just refreshing to be reading a book.”

Vampire Diaries fans took a collective gasp when Damon snapped poor Matt’s neck in the most recent episode of the CW series (Season 4, Episode 21: She’s Come Undone”). Luckily, he was wearing the Gilbert ring (nice move, Damon), but that didn’t make the scene any less heartbreaking as viewers watched Elena react to Matt’s apparent death and then come to terms with the string of bodies she left across Mystic Falls.

While Nina Dobrev hasn’t seen the episode yet, she told Wetpaint Entertainment she’s “nervous” to watch the emotional scene play out.

“I remember that day,” she told us at the launch of Origins’ new GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer in New York City. “It was a really tough day on set. Very emotional.”

However, Elena’s emotional breakdown did lead to one of the most intriguing plot twists of the season: forget Silas, Elena wants to kill Katherine! So will this lead to an epic Doppelganger battle in the finale? Given the intel Nina gave us, all signs point to yes. Unfortunately for the actress, who takes on both roles in the series, it meant filming two grueling fight scenes.

How long did you know this was coming?
We knew when we made the decision to make Elena a vampire that we needed to get her to the place of utter and complete loss and tragedy and darkness so that we could take her down the road of being a vampire without humanity. And so we knew that we were going to be sacrificing somebody we loved when we started the season, and very early on in the season, we made the decision about who that was going to be. Then we asked ourselves a lot of questions and debated but ultimately stuck to it.

Did you anticipate most of the fans writing off Jeremy’s death as a fake-out? Many of them were actually like Elena, now that I think about it — total denial.
That’s what we wanted to do, truthfully. We wanted to end the previous episode with Jeremy’s death, but I said as I was writing the script that [I knew] the ride I wanted the audience to be on in this episode. The instant that episode 14 was over, the very first thing somebody was going to say is, “No, wait! Was he wearing his ring?” Then somebody else was going to say, “Wait, the ring doesn’t work anymore.” Then somebody else was going to say, “But what if it does? You never know.” And we wanted to dramatize all those questions because on this show, death is not always final. And we do have this sort of reputation for turning a story on its head and surprising people. So we wanted to play those questions so that as Elena came to terms with reality and what had happened, so too, would the audience.
